Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2025
1. Introduction
Sermara ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our AI-powered communication practice platform.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and any profile information you provide. If you sign in via a third-party provider (e.g. Google, Clerk), we receive basic profile data from that provider.
Voice and Video Data
During practice sessions, we process your voice (for transcription and coaching) and optionally your camera feed. Video is analyzed entirely in your browser. Your face never leaves your device. We analyze the vibe (e.g., posture, expressions), not stored video. We do not store video recordings.
Audio is processed temporarily for speech-to-text and coaching analysis, then deleted after the session. We do not retain raw audio recordings.
Usage Data
We collect session metadata (e.g., scenario type, duration, scores), progress data, and anonymized analytics to improve the product.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and personalize the Service; generate coaching reports; improve our AI and product; communicate with you about updates or support; and comply with legal obligations.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with: service providers who assist in operating the Service (e.g., hosting, analytics, auth) under strict agreements; legal authorities when required by law; or in connection with a merger or acquisition, with notice to you.
5. Data Retention
Session reports and progress data are retained to power your coaching history and progression. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time via our contact page.
6. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest. Video analysis runs locally in your browser to minimize exposure.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We may use analytics cookies to improve the product. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings.
9. Children
Sermara is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy here and updating the "Last updated" date.
